Steering Committee
More than 20 organizations signed Memorandums of Understanding to form our collaborative in Spring 2013 and another 20+ organizations have joined us since. Using collective impact, a broad cross-sector membership representing government, education, service providers, philanthropy, and others make up our steering committee who oversees our work and meets quarterly. Committees
HOYC Data Workgroup is charged with monitoring and reporting on progress toward reconnecting Hartford’s almost 5,000 Opportunity Youth. The workgroup is open to any collaborative member and works with the Hartford Data Collaborative to support aggregate reports that provide analysis and direction to HOYC leadership for strengthening OY strategies. It is aligned with Aspen’s Data and Metrics Action Group for Opportunity Youth. Meeting materials are here.
Career Pathways Committee is charged with identifying and building systems capacity to scale up best and promising practices of our effective pathway programs, developing staff skills and capacity to better serve Opportunity Youth, and make recommendations to increase system and program penetration and participation of youth in key subpopulations of Opportunity Youth. The Interim Chair is Kim Oliver, the director of the City of Hartford’s Department of Families, Children, Youth and Recreation. The committee oversees the coordination of the Career Pathway System. Youth Leadership
Through Our Piece of the Pie youth leadership development training program is organized to provide youth leadership engagement and opportunities to youth leaders across the city. Our program gives youth the skills and knowledge they need to be a leader for themselves, their peers, and our community. See Youth Leaders section of this website for more information.
Youth Participation
With guidance from the City of Hartford and leading youth development organizations, we designed and implemented a youth leadership development training program. Our program gives youth the skills and knowledge they need to be a leader for themselves, their peers, and our community. Youth enrolled in our program meet twice a week and inform and partner with the steering committee.
Backbone Organization
Capital Workforce Partners provides the infrastructure needed to sustain this collective impact initiative. As the backbone organization, CWP performs six key functions:
- Guide vision and strategy
- Broker relationships to align activities
- Establish shared measurement practices
- Build public will
- Advance policy
- Mobilize funding
Also, CWP plays a critical role in supporting continuous communication and coordinating mutually reinforcing activities among participating partners.
